Alamo Heights hosts a number of “special events” and “qualified neighborhood events” throughout the year. While special events include parades, walks, runs, etc., “qualified neighborhood events” include neighborhood block parties. Due to the larger scope and impact that special events tend to have on the community, this process requires administrative fees (which vary for Alamo Heights-based vs. non-Alamo Heights-based organizations). Special events require submittal at least 45 days prior to the event to circulate among the Police, Fire and Public Works departments for a determination about whether to approve the permit request. While permit issuance requires compliance with all of the terms specified in the application, it also requires compliance with specific requests by the reviewing departments. Compliance with all requirements, does not ensure permit approval, however.
