Message from City Manager

Welcome to the City of Alamo Heights website!

For our community, we are sad to announce that Mark Browne will be leaving the City of Alamo Heights as of December 31st. However, we are extremely happy for Mark as he assumes the role of City Manager of Schertz, starting on January 2nd.

Though Mark was very happy in Alamo Heights, the Schertz opportunity was one he simply could not pass up, given the current size and continued growth of the Schertz residential and commercial areas. Mark has been our City Manager for over 7 years, coming to Alamo Heights from his position as City Manager of Terrell Hills. During that period, Mark worked tirelessly for our community and helped us begin to address our long overdue streets and utilities infrastructure needs while maintaining a balanced budget annually. Under his watch, we have strengthened our codes and ordinances to address the changing needs of the City. Mark had direct oversight, for among other projects, the construction of the new City Hall, the Austin Highway/Broadway apartment complex and the Alamo Heights Independent School District renovations and construction.

Schertz will be very fortunate to have his leadership and we wish him well. The City has posted the job opening and we hope to have a new City Manager in place by the end of January.

On a separate note, we wish all of you a happy and healthy holiday season!

The city government responds to the needs of citizens and  provides the services that make their experience living in Alamo Heights a pleasant one. Please take a look through the the website to get a better understanding of the activities and services the city provides. We trust you are able to easily locate the information you need as well as learn something new about our community. The City staff, RAVE Citizen Notification Program, and the monthly newsletter mailed with your water bill also will be good sources of assistance as you get acquainted with the community.
