Narcotics Violation

 

An officer on patrol observed a vehicle driving dangerously . When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle the driver made a sudden U-turn driving over curbs and sidewalks. When the vehicle stopped the officer observed fresh damage to the sides of the vehicle. Upon contact with the driver the officer observed signs leading him to suspect the driver may be under the influence of alcohol. A subsequent investigation confirmed the driver was under the influence of alcohol and impaired. A passenger in the vehicle told officers he had observed the driver smoking crack cocaine during the course of the evening. During and inventory of the vehicle suspected crack cocaine and an open bottle of whiskey was found in the vehicle. The driver was booked into jail for DWI and narcotics violations.

A resident reported he was working in his detached garage during the morning. The resident went to the hardware store for supplies leaving the garage door open. While the resident was away someone entered the garage and stole numerous tools and other equipment. It is likely this theft is related to the open garage theft in the 400 blk. Alamo Heights Blvd. This type of thief will cruise an area and if given the opportunity will commit multiple thefts.

A resident reported that a set of golf clubs were stolen from his garage. The resident reported the garage door was open during the day of the theft.

Tip: It is a good practice to always keep garage doors shut when there is no one in a position to control access. Open garages are an invitation for theft of golf clubs, lawn equipment, tools, or any item of value that can be grabbed and moved to a vehicle quickly. More importantly, open garages sometime provide a direct access to the residence.

An officer on patrol observed a vehicle driving erratically and swerving across traffic lanes. During the initial contact with the driver the officer observed signs leading him to suspect the driver may be under the influence of alcohol. A subsequent investigation confirmed the driver was under the influence of alcohol and impaired. A criminal records check revealed the driver had been convicted twice for DWI elevating this offense to a felony. The driver was booked into jail.

A female reported she was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by a male associate. The female reported that without provation the male driver struck her several times in the face and was pulling her hair all while the vehicle was still in motion. The male driver pulled into a parking lot and demanded the female victim get out of the car leaving her in a parking lot. The female victim signed a prosecution affidavit against the subject and charges are pending.

Officers responded to a report from a resident that there was a male subject in his backyard. Responding officers found the subject and discovered he was very intoxicated. It was determined the subject lived in the 100 blk. of Rosemary and after a night out with friends had gone to the wrong house thinking it was his home. The subject was returned hom and released to a responsible adult.

An officer on patrol stopped a vehicle for speeding. During the initial contact with the driver the officer observed signs leading him to suspect the driver may be under the influence of alcohol. A subsequent investigation confirmed the driver was under the influence of alcohol and impaired. The driver was booked into jail.

A patron at a local business reported he discovered his vehicle had been burglarized when the he discovered his door lock punched out. A laptop computer, overnight bag, and a briefcase left in open view within the vehicle were stolen.

 TIP: Vehicle burglars are very successful at watching the activities of persons around office buildings and commercial parking lots. It is very frequent that purses, briefcases, laptop computers, etc. are left in vehicles while the vehicle is unattended for short periods of time. Take all items of value or containing personal information with you or lock it up out of sight.

An officer on patrol observed a vehicle stopped on Broadway at a green light. The officer observed the traffic light to cycle to red then back to green but the vehicle remained stationary. The officer stopped behind the vehicle and activated the patrol vehicle emergency lights. When the officer approached he observed the vehicle engine running and a male subject slumped over the steering wheel asleep or unconscious. The officer was able to awaken the driver who displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. A subsequent investigation confirmed the driver was under the influence of alcohol and impaired. The driver was booked into jail.

An officer on patrol observed a vehicle driving erratically and traveling at a speed higher than the posted speed limit. As the officer positioned his vehicle to make a traffic stop the vehicle crossed over the center line of the roadway almost striking an on-coming vehicle. While the officer was trying to get the driver to stop the vehicle he received a radio broadcast for a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle he was following that had left a local bar and being driven by an intoxicated male subject. The vehicle was stopped and the driver displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. A subsequent investigation and voluntary breath sample results of .297 confirmed the officer’s suspicions of driver intoxication. The driver was booked into jail.

An Officer on patrol observed a vehicle driving very erratically, striking curbs and swerving from lane to lane. When the officer stopped the vehicle he detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the interior of the vehicle and observed the driver to display signs of being under the influence of alcohol. A subsequent investigation and voluntary breath sample results of .197 confirmed the officer’s suspicions of driver intoxication. The driver was booked into jail.

An officer on patrol observed a vehicle commit several traffic violations. The officer stopped the vehicle and upon contacting the driver detected a strong odor of burning marijuana emitting from the vehicle interior. A subsequent investigation discovered marijuana, narcotics, paraphernalia, and open bottles of alcohol. The driver was charged with narcotics violations and for having open containers of alcohol in the vehicle.

Officers responded to an apartment for a reported assault. Investigation revealed a female roommate assaulted her boyfriend after he came home from being out with friends after work. The boyfriend suffered minor injuries as a result of the assault. The female roommate was arrested for assault/family violence and transported to jail.

Officers responded to a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a building. During the course of the investigation officers noted the driver showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. Further investigation supported officers suspicions the driver was intoxicated. The results of a voluntary breath specimen provided by the driver was .192 (legally intoxicated in .08). The driver was arrested for DWI and booked into jail.

Officers responded to a report of a vehicle stopped in the traffic lane, unoccupied, with the engine running. Officer discovered the driver of the vehicle was slumped over the steering wheel appearing to be asleep or unconscious. Officers were able to awaken the driver and found her to be very disoriented and unable to comprehend their instructions to take the vehicle out of gear and turn off the engine. Once officers were able to get the driver to open the door they discovered evidence of intoxication. The driver refused to cooperate in a field investigation and was arrested for DWI based on all the available evidence. The driver has been previously convicted of DWI.

During the course of a traffic violation investigation, Officers detected evidence of marijuana inside the violator vehicle. A follow-up investigation discovered a quantity of marijuana, methamphetamine, and narcotics paraphernalia. Also found were a variety of prescription bottles containing narcotic drugs and having the labels torn off in violation of the Controlled Substance Act. The driver was arrested on numerous drug related charges.

Officers stopped a vehicle for driving in excess of the posted speed limit. Upon contact with the driver officers detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. A field investigation revealed other clues leading officers to believe the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver refused to cooperate further in the investigation and was arrested for DWI based on all the available evidence.

A resident reported that during the night someone had entered his vehicle parked on his driveway. The resident reported the vehicle was rummaged through and sunglasses were missing. There were no signs of forced entry on the vehicle.

A resident reported that checks and a credit card were stolen from a vehicle he had sent to the car wash with a domestic helper.

TIP: Checks, credit cards, personal identification, bank account cards, and other items having personal or financial information should never be left in vehicles going to garages, car washes, etc. AHPD has actually made arrests for forgeries in progress where checks or credit cards were stolen from vehicles being serviced.
