City Taxes

The City bills and collects it's own property taxes; property owners will receive a bill each year in October from the City, unless you have a mortgage company which pays your taxes from an escrow account.

The Bexar Appraisal District identifies property to be taxed. They determine the taxable owner, address, appraised value , and whether to grant exemptions. For information on exemptions, please call Bexar Appraisal District at (210) 224-2432, write them at P.O. Box 830248, San Antonio, Texas 78283-0248.

The only exemptions granted by the City of Alamo Heights are:

  • Disabled American Veterans exemption
  • A “tax ceiling” for those over 65 or disabled who qualify for the homestead exemption. The tax ceiling is set at the amount you pay in the year that you qualify for the aged 65 or older homeowner exemption

You may use a credit card to make your property tax payment through Official Payments Corporation. Click Here for the Official Payments Website.
