The applicant obtains and submits an application for employment and information packet to the City of Alamo Heights Human Resources Department at 6116 Broadway, Alamo Heights, TX 78209.
The applications may be hand delivered or mailed.
Steps for employment:
- Complete and return the Application Form/Personal History Statement with all required documentation.
- Successfully pass the written exam, a basic firefighter and EMS aptitude test, and a physical ability test.
- Oral interview panel
- Thorough background investigation
- Conditional offer from Chief
- Physical Exam and Drug screen test
- Chief Interview and final job offer
Note: Candidates must pass and meet the eligibility requirements of each assessment prior to progressing to the next evaluation segment.
Qualifications to apply:
- Only individuals meeting the certification standards for Structural Fire Protection Personnel as prescribed by the Texas Commission On Fire Protection.
- Minimum certification as an Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic as prescribed by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
- The ability to be covered under the city's vehicle insurance policy;
- The applicant can have none of the following items on his/her record:
- Driving while intoxicated or impaired or under the influence of drugs within last 3 years preceding the date of the written examination
- Conviction of a felony or other crime involving moral turpitude;
- Any discharge from the Armed Forces other than honorable discharge; (Uncharacterized and Entry Level discharges may be accepted on individual basis).
- Two or more traffic violations convictions within 24 months preceding the date of the written examination;
- Conviction of a Class A or Class B misdemeanor or its equivalent within the 24 months preceding the date of the written examination;
- Suspended drivers License in the past 24 months preceding the date of the written examination.
